Looking to upgrade my 8gb ram to 16gb. Ideally i'd like to just get another 4gb stick dual channel kit of my current stuff (old outdated Kingston HyperX Black Memory from 2013), but as you may have guessed, outdated. No longer sold. By anyone, as far as i can tell. Completely replaced by the new Fury Lineup.

(That is the exact model + specs, if you're wondering, btw.)

I asked my local tech store if i could just get the new 1600mHz fury RAM and it be compatible, but they told me that my stuff is running at 1.5v whereas essentially ALL new RAM runs at 1.3v (do not want to cross the streams).

I do have the options of selling off my RAM and buying a new 16gb kit fresh, or trying to wait for one to show up on ebay (2 have in the last 2 months). As far as i can tell, because of compatibility no one sells RAM on its own without accompanying cpu and motherboard. Meaning it would be close to impossible to sell my RAM on its own, and close to impossible to BUY RAM on its own...

Are there models that are compatible with this stuff? Are there stores still selling it that i can buy new? (Living in Aus)? Does anyone have a good deal on one i can get or is looking for some new RAM that i can sell to?

Thank you to the LTT Forum once again! =D

mixing memory is never a good idea, unless you are certain it will work. besides 8gb is  plenty ,unless u use some very ram intensive applications. that said , if u made up your mind then go for a new 8*2 set of any speed from any trusty brand and get rid of the old ones.
