Helllllllllp! Pc wont boot

Go to solution Solved by Razarza,

what do i try

Sorry, I had forgotten about this thread, it is getting late here. Have just your CPU power and ATX power plugged in with only your CPU and RAM installed in the motherboard, no GPU, storage drives or anything else. Make sure the 8 pin CPU power is in the correct port on the power supply as well. It should be marked on there in white text. If you still don't get any power to the motherboard then you may have a faulty item.

whats bare minimum i could have pluged in

Ok, so you have just your CPU and one stick of RAM installed in your motherboard with only the 8 pin CPU and the 24 pin ATX power? And you are certain all the cables in the right spot, please take some clear pictures so we can all make sure.

Those are very helpful but not necessary, even if you didn't have then in properly removing them and using the onboard power button would have worked, so the problem must be something else.

this is how my cpu goes in right its aligned with the arrow https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=msi+x99a+sli+plus+cpu+installation&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CAcQjRw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.play3r.net%2Freviews%2Fmotherboards%2Fmsi-x99s-sli-motherboard-review%2F4%2F&ei=JyGEVcy5Dcvl-AHboIHQBQ&bvm=bv.96042044,d.cWw&psig=AFQjCNEdb1fx2bOnl_SwPZkejwfpE3lseQ&ust=1434808982960133

Yes that would be the correct position, now what about all the power cables, does the 8 pin CPU power cable go into the correct spot in the power supply.

and vga is where gpu goes both pins get separate cords

We don't need to worry about any video output right now, just the essentials. We need to make sure that we can at least get a light on your motherboard.

My psu was dead I used his then my pc booted directly into bios.

Ah ok, it is very unlucky that your PSU was DoA. At least we now know for certain what the cause of the problem was, have you already applied for an RMA?
