I did a 8350 from a X4 965 and it was worthwhile. I think it will be a good improvement all around.

From a pure performance increase standpoint: of course upgrading should increase your overall performance a bit. That being said, I know people with Phenom II X6's who play games maxed out at 1080p just fine. Phenom II x6's really were good chips, they shouldn't bottleneck anything all that much, but its still a bottleneck nevertheless. The 8350 is not bad at all as an upgrade. However, if you dont feel like upgrading the CPU, spend that extra cash on a GTX 780 lol.

Build 1: CPU: Intel i5 2500k @ 4.7 GHz, GPU: GTX 660 Ti, Mobo: Asrock Z68 Pro3-M, RAM: 8GB Samsung "wonder ram" @ 2133 Storage: SanDisk Extreme 240GB

Build 2: CPU: Intel i7 4770K @ 4.6 GHz GPU: GTX 780, Mobo: Asus z87-Pro RAM: Same as build 1. Storage: Samsung 840 Pro 256GB

NAS: FreeNAS running on core 2 Quad Q8400, 8GB RAM, 6 x Seagate 2TB. Dont bother with SanDisk SSD's, just don't.

It's not "not bad" it's the best gaming CPU from AMD considering price/performance ratio.

Was wondering if it'd be worth it to upgrade to the 8350 from my Phenom II x6 1055T cpu. My motherboard supports AM3+ and I'm thinking of getting a 770. Thoughts? Any place I can see how it compares to my 1055t?

the 8350 is the best cpu amd has to offer from a gamer's point of view, the Phenom II x 6 is also a great cpu though. as for going for a 770 or 780, why not rather the 7950 or gtx 760? I wouldn't go any higher than that though since graphics cards are still developing like mad so spending too much now will make you regret it in the long run. just look at the poor little 570 competing with the 650 Ti boost, what a laugh that is if you take the pricing into account, the same will happen in the future especially since this generation wasn't a major leap from last year you can expect something bigger with the next launch or the launch after that depending on Nvidia's agenda. bottom line: don't go for the high end cards you're losing price/performance ratio and you're also slamming extra cash into a card that might be mediocre in a year or two. rather SLI or crossfire a 760/7950. since it's the best way to "future proof" your system since you could (once it's necessary) sell the SLI cards for the price of one of the newer generations "mid range" cards. (that being said the SLI should last you a while though, just look at the amount of people that still have dual 460's compared to those that still have 470's and 480's and look at the performance difference nowadays).

I'm in the same boat as you with a 1055t.

I thought about getting an 8350 but after looking at benchmarks I didn't feel it would be a big enough improvement.

Will work for electronic components and parts
