This is my first from scratch build for gaming and light coding. I have limited experience with replacing computer hardware and need help with picking the rest of the parts for this build without breaking the bank. The parts I have already picked are:

CPU: I5-4690k - $229.99

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - $26.98

GPU: Asus STRIX GTX 970 4gb - $319.99

Total: $566.96

I have a case already that is very similar to this case but a little shorter front to back but is still a standard ATX just a tight fit. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811182566

I need help picking a motherboard, ram, ssd, and a gpu. I would like to get 16gb of 2133 ram but I have no experience with overclocked ram. As far as the ssd I want a 120-256GB m.2 drive that is NVMe.

As far as price, lower is better but I can afford up to $1200-1300 USD total for the project.

I would still like to have 16gb of ram regardless.

What would you recommend as an alternative SSD of higher capacity?

60-240 GB SSD for OS programs and your games you play the most. With a 1TB HHD for everything else.

What gaming are you wanting to do with this.

-resolution

-framerates

-settings

-what titles

And do you need anything else included in the price.

-keyboard

-mouse

-moniter

Right now I have a good keyboard and mouse and then a 1600x900 monitor that I will replace with most likely a ultrawide 1080p monitor further down the road. I am hoping for 60fps on most titles but am willing to deal with lower resolutions and settings to achieve 60fps. I am happy with the 970's performance.

I have a spare HDD, case, and windows copy.

I want 2133mhz ram because it is very little extra cost for a little return that I am willing to pay.

Would this be a good build, part wise it is everything I need? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/rYbGzy

No you only need 8gb of 1600mhz ram, a 550-650 watt power supply, a motherboard that isn't shit, a non shity GPU, a 120gb SSD, and what is the cases CPU clearance because the hyper 212 may be too tall.

Anything above that is a unesisary waste for the application your needing it for.

The worst thing is the 16gb of 2133mhz ram it's not it has little return on investment, it just has absolutely no return, at all, never unless your running on integrated graphics, witch you are not it's not needed, and helps nothing.

I have seen these brands of hardware receive high reviews on other sites. Why are they bad?

The asus 970 strix is notorious for coil whine and cant overclock at all, almost any other 970 can easily be overclocked to 1450mhz.

The asrock motherboard is horrendous when it comes to software and features when put beside a similarly priced board from a more reputable manufacturers like gigabyte, msi, or asus.

There is 6-1/2" clearance.

The Hyper 212 evo should fit nicely.

So would ram like this with low latency at 1600mhz perform better?  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231628

Look at this list, whatever is nearest to the top is your best choice.
