CPU overclock won't apply after BIOS update

so i have an 4690K and normally under load the chip would run at 4.4Ghz but for some reason after updating the BIOS of my mobo from version 1.7 to 2.3(asrock z97 extreme6), no matter what i do, the cpu clock stays at stock speed. The base clock is fixed to 100mhz, multiplier is 44, voltage is 1.3 but it stays at stock speed regardless. The MOBO does have dual BIOS chips that can also be swapped. any solutions?

Updating bios will rid your oc so you'll have to do it again. I would check bios and make sure everything is set right. And in windows check power setting. Kinda strange if you tried all this and it still won't work.

for some damn reason, setting windows power options to high performance keeps the cpu at 3.5 ghz. the mobo did save my oc settings even after updating tho. switching the power option to balanced fixes the issue

strange, check c states in bios. Good you found a work around. Or adaptative clock.
