MSI H81M-P33 Graphics card slot

Go to solution Solved by ShadowCaptain,

So hey guys, my question is about the latch of the PCIe x16 connector of MSI H81M-P33 motherboard. The thing is, it doesn't look like any other latch I have seen in many videos I have watched, and I am a bit worried because I will be installing a graphics card in a couple of hours and I don't want to break the board by applying excess pressure when the latch is closed or something. Or does the latch even open or close, because it seemed like I couldn't move the handle-like thingy, although I only tried so with very little pressure. This is my question, all answers are appreciated.

You dont need to move the latch, just push the GPU into place and it will move the latch itself, the latch is only there to remove the GPU, they can be very stiff

They dont even need to be there, you could snap the latch off, it doesnt really matter, it just prevents the card from moving around

Thank you dude, and if I want to take it out, do I need to push the latch back down, or will it pop off if I pull the card?

you need to hold it up as you as you remove the card, if it is as pictured, its just a flexible piece of plastic
