Hello everyone,

Heres an issue that has puzzled me for the majority of the day. Recently I have received a NZXT Sentry Mix 2 from a friend, and when I plug both molex pins into the cable that runs into the PSU and try and turn the computer on, it flickers and shuts off. Only to be turned on again by turning the PSU on and off again. It does work with one molex adapter plugged in, but all the fans seem to be running at %50 capacity as should be expected. Firstly, I assumed it was the PSU having troubles thinking there was a short, but when I plugged in the Peripherial cable into the PSU plug labeled 6+2 PCI-E & 4+4 CPU with both molex adapters plugged in, the fans appeared to run at %150! The NZXT Sentry unit was overheating and smelled of burnt plastic after a few seconds so I shut it off. Any ideas of what the issue is and how I could fix it?

CPU- AMD FX-6300

GPU- MSI Radeon R9 270

PSU- Corsair CX 430M

RAM- (1) Ballistix 4gb (1) unknown 8gb

MOBO- ASRpck 970 pro3 R2.0

probably just the fact that it is corsair psu would go for a 600watt evga and just replace

<p>Wish I could have this already!! : http://pcpartpicker.com/p/qTLRjX

Might be a short in the fan-controller, Do you have any other working desktop at hand to try it with?

Well if there was a short, wouldn't that make it not work in the 6+2 PCI-E & 4+4 CPU plug on the PSU? or since thats not designed for a peripheral cable would it not detect the short?

Sorry, I did not read it properly.

The fans cant run at 150% the speed just by connecting them in any way to the PSU, 12 volts is always 12 volts and 5 volts is always 5 volts, Unless there is a circuit that puts them in series(Which probably would kill the PSU quickly since the voltage gap is too big), Or there is a mosfet changing the voltage.

The 6+2 and 4+4 also has more wattage, It will cut the connection later.

The problem has to be a short, I cant think of something else that can be the cause of the problem.

How many fans do you have connected?

They did seem to run faster, they may have set up the NZXT unit to be in series, since it only runs on half power when one molex is plugged in. I will try it on another computer and see what the results may be. I had 3 fans connected to the unit
