My Cousin and I are looking to build a decent gaming PC that will run every game on ultra we chose some parts and looking for some advice on whether we are getting our moneys worth.  

Parts:

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor

 

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler

 

Motherboard: MSI Z97-G45 Gaming ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

 

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

16 gigs is unnecessary for gaming

The GTX 970 is good, but can't max out every game

Don't get CX series PSU's, they're crap imo

For gaming, the i5-4690K will be good

For the cooler, I recommend the Be Quiet! Pure Rock

 

What resolution are you going to play at? and what framerates are you aiming at? What's your budget and location? I can provide a better build.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2WJmhMIf you can I'd squeeze the extra $100 out to get a 250gb SSD. It's a luxury not a must but it can make a worlds difference it boot times and game load times.

Perfect for VIDEO EDITING if your not doing that than i5 and maybe 8gb will be fine

I'll agree with you except for the 16gbs part. I think 16gbs is that "sweet spot" especially if you play games and have 20+ tabs open, watching YouTube, browsing tons of forumns and voting sites up ect ect...
