I bought the collector's edition of Fallout: New Vegas when it was released and it came with a Steam code. I'm guessing Bethesda will do the same thing for Fallout 4, but don't quote me on this, it's way too early to know.

From the looks of it the last few physical copies of the games I bought they both let me download instead of installing off disk - GTA 5 and Witcher 3. Although I don't know if GOG works like it should, I have auto updates set but I have to download them manually, maybe it takes few days before it updates by itself i dunno.

You enter keycode to platform you want to use and thats it. In old days you would need physical disc to play and dl patches manually. But you wouldn't need to have disc in drive while patching game.
