I NEED HELP!

Hey guys, I'm planning on doing a build soon and I've done a fair bit of research into everything, but I'M STILL STUCK.

I want rig that I'll be able to use for work: CAD software, programming and Video/Photo editing.

BUT I also want something I can game on as well. I'm not a hardcore gaming, at the moment I only play LoL. But if I had a better pc (currently using a Mac, pls no hate) I'd definitely try out other games.

I want to keep the price reasonable, around $1500-2000 AUD, so probably around $1000 U.S. I also would like to future proof it, leave myself with the option to upgrade in the future.

Any and all advice is greatly appreciated, thank you!

but I would start with a xeon e3 1231v3 and a h97 or z97 motherboard

What sort of upgradability does that leave if I were to upgrade in the future? I'm pretty sure the current gen i5s and i7s are the same socket, correct me if I'm wrong.

unfortunatiy ..there wouldn't be to much you could upgrade to with that

the 1150 socket will be dead in a few months ....if you can wait...wait for the new skylake cpus

Yeah I'm not necessarily in a rush. Is there any insight into the prices of skylake? And is AMD releasing their new cpu's anytime soon?
