Be Quiet! PSU worth it?

So I am looking for a really quiet PSU for <$80. I have the option to get an EVGA Supernova GS with fanless option if the system is not under load, 80+ gold and fully modular, or a Be Quiet! Pure Power L8 non-modular 80+ bronze PSU. Is it worth getting the Be Quiet! PSU? My case won't have a clear side panel and i can just tuck unused cables since I have a fairly big case.

I've got DPP 10 from Be Quiet! It's great PSU with a sense for detail like rubbered corners to prevent the vibrations etc. (and also the support is great, I asked them for a sticker to put it on display on my case and they sent me literally like 20) Thumbs Up!

Have you had any issues with coil whine of some sort? Can you hear the fan under load?

That's why I bought Be Quiet! PSU. I had coil whine on 3 Corsair's PSUs, AX 860i, I am very sensitive to all kinds of noises and no coil whine whatsoever on this one.

EDIT: Fan is totally silent

Nah don't. Superflower Oems for EVGA so will get an amazing PSU with the EVGA option. Also it simply has better specs.

My Pc: Cpu: I7 4790k @ 4,8 Ghz @1,25 volts, Motherboard: Maximus VII Formula, Graphicscard: 2x Titan X @1,4 at stock voltage (soon to be replaced), Ram: 32 gb Corsair Dominator Platinum 2133 Cl 9, SSD: 2x 850 Pro 1 Tb in Raid 0, 2x Samsung 840 Evo 1 tb raid 1,, PSU: Corsair HXi Series 1000W 80+ Platinum, Case: H440. Soon to be watercooled again, maybe, probably, the Titans are too loud.

Is it quiet though? and what do you mean better specs, like better capacitors or something? I dont really care about if its modular or not, the Be Quiet PSU is 80+ bronze and delivers enough wattage for my upcoming system.

Dude, calm down. You won't notice the noise difference between the EVGA and the Be Quiet anyways. You're letting marketing lead you to buying a subpar product for the money.

I'm also a huge BeQuiet fanboy (currently 2 PSUs, 2 CPU coolers and 13 SilentWings2 fans), but I'll admit that out of the 3 BeQuiet PSUs I've had so far, 2 had to be replaced.

After 2 years my DPP P7 850W became unstable when cold, delivering fluctuating voltages and hence causing my PC to refuse booting until the PSU had warmed up enough.

My DPP P10 850W was faulty from the start. It would randomly stop delivering power to the 8-pin CPU cable, causing the PC to suddenly turn off. They swapped it on the spot and the new one is perfect so far.

My DPP P9 650W never let me down though. It always did its job perfectly fine but going SLI meant it was pulling up to 700W from the wall, so I bought the 850W P10 to replace it. The P9 has spent some time in its box since then, but starting sometime next week it'll power the NAS I'm currently building.

In your case I'd go with the EVGA. The chance of coil whine on those is small.

no not really. I have heard the EVGA fan and Be Quiet fan and the EVGA is much louder than the Be Quiet one.

On it's own. When the PSU and your components are actually under load, you won't hear the difference when you have the other fans on your CPU, GPU and case.

but then again, as i am a Be Quiet fan. I have all be Quiet fans on the case and a be quiet CPU cooler, also no HDD's, and a strix GPU, so fanless mode on idle. The supernova GS has a fanless mode on idle though.

The Pure Power L8 is not fanless at idle. The EVGA GS is. Pure Power L8 is basically an EVGA 600B with a better fan. Nothing special at all. They make good fans and coolers, but their PSUs are subpar.

I know the GS is fanless on idle, but in terms of load, you can hear the GS. I dont really care about features, just the acoustics since both PSU's have an 80+ rating and can power a system quite good. I just want to know which is quieter.

Again, where is this load coming from? The CPU and GPU. What do those have? Fans. What do fans make? Noise.

When under system load, you will hear the system, not the PSU only. So even though EVGA is louder it will be a negligible difference.

Look at the Antec Edge 550W for something quiet under load, if you must have a Be Quiet PSU in your fanboyism, get something better then the mediocre-for-the-price Pure Power L8.

Having had both a Dark Power Pro 10 and a EVGA B2, I can say with certainty the DPP10 is quieter, both at idle and load.

As for the quality of the unit, (Caps, design and all that) the GS (And even the B2) is better.

I don't know how much the Be Quiet PSU is you're looking at costs, but unless it's noticeably less than the GS, I wouldn't choose it.

Pure Power L8 600W is $85 http://pcpartpicker.com/part/be-quiet-power-supply-bn624

650GS is $70 (including MIR) http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-220gs0650v1

The price difference doesn't seem much but when you compare it quality wise and consider that the Pure Power L8 is based off a very similar HEC platform to the x00B, you're basically paying $85 for a $50 PSU + better fan ($10 max). http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-100b10600kr
