Weird slow internet speed

Hi!

So I have a problem with my grandma's laptop actually, and in all my years of experience, Ive never seen anything like it. It is a really nice laptop, i7, 8 gb Ram, good wifi chip etc... Anyway, the problem is that even though she is the only one in her house and she has 50mb/s internet, all of the mainstream websites i.e. facebook, google, netflix, twitter, gmail, reddit, you know all of the popular sites take INSANELY long to load. Now not as popular sites like speedtest.net which i used to check the speed loaded instantly. this is a fresh install of windows, and I checked, there are no hardware problems. Any ideas?

Do you think that she's being throttled on certain sites?

Are you testing at peak hours? as it seems to be related to the load on the servers. This however should not cause what you say as "insanely long" loading times, but rather just a slightly longer load time.

 

Is it only latency, or do pictures load slowly as well?

i would say your isp is just making mainstream services load really slow.

Well its comcast buisiness (I dont know why) at non-peak hours, with no set restrictions. I tested her wifi with other devices and they all worked fine.

Non-peak hours, comcast buisiness wifi, tested on other devices, they work fine
