GPU coil whine while only using CPU

I've got a sapphire r9- 280x.. Rendered something in blender (100% cpu utilization) suddenly the gpu starts buzzing. It's not loud or anything but it's definitely there. No sounds coming from the PSU (seasonic g550  550 watt gold) should I be worried? 

 

edit: Sounds stop when rendering stops. Ran unigine benchmark and the GPU stays silent.

I don't see what it has to do with the CPU usage triggering the GPU coil whine though. it happens in keyshot and in cinebench too.

OpenGL acceleration would mean that some of the rendering workload is done on the GPU instead of just running on the CPU only.. I don't know why it would be happening in keyshot or cinebench too, unless it's not coming from the GPU.

Are you 100% certain that it's the GPU? High-pitched noises can sometimes be difficult to determine their source, especially in a small enclosed environment like a PC case.

 

You may have some luck if you adjust overclock settings. My 980 will coil whine if it's core clock is between ~1490-1530 Mhz, but doesn't seem to whine at other clockspeeds..

opened up the case and I'm 100% sure it's the videocard. I don't know if the CPU is just drawing power at a certain voltage that somehow starts the GPU coil whine. It doesnt occur in other programs. It's just plain weird. Though it's not really loud enough that it's irritating but you know it's there.
