Hey guys,

Hope you guys are doing well.

I have a question. Every time I play games, my CPU fan just go supersonic quick and it is creating a lot of noise. To a certain extend I would really like to make the custom water looping so much just to lower the noise level. Is my CPU not good enough for the games I play?

Games I play are CSGO and Dota 2. The noise level when I play Dota 2 is okay, but CSGO the fan just go supersonic. I thought my rig should have plenty of power to run the games I play. I am so confused.

I am using

GTX 760

I5 4670K

Cooler Master 120 Seidon, with 2 Notchua fans doing push pull thing.

can you use a program like hwmonitor or coretemp to measure your CPU temperature during gaming? my guess is that the fans are spinning faster than they should.

your best option would probably be to install the include low noise adapter that came with the two fans if you have them

Your case is why the released the Haswell Refresh CPUs, with Haswell the silicon lotery was even bigger, which means more CPUs were manufactured with this overheating, that's why they refreshed the CPUs with more TDP, so they were sure that this ones wouldn't overheat. You were just unlucky. There's no need for Custom Watercooling, an AIO like CM Neptom or air coolling like BeQuiet! and Noctua are just fine.

instead of correcting him, why not try to help. by that logic GPUs don't make noise either, but graphics cards do, but it's common to say you have a noisy GPU.

I'm pretty sure you understood that he meant CPU to include his CPU cooler and fans, so you don't need to point this out.

I think that is probably the case and I hope it is. Do you know how can i control the spinning speed of the CPU fans?

sorry I took so long to respond. if your fans are connected to the motherboard, then there will be some sort of software from your motherboard vendor that will control your fans. what motherboard do you have?

@zion319

Your temps are very good.  Are those your temps while playing CS/DoTA?  Or those are just idle temps?

Which GTX 760 do you have? Asus DC2 and Gigabyte Windforce have pretty noisy fans and often have coil whine. It might not be your CPU fan and might instead be the GPU... my Asus GTX 760 fans get pretty loud and it produces high pitched coil whine, at first I thought it was coming from the CPU fan until I replaced it with a be quiet pure rock (dead silent cooler).

Intel i5-4690K @ 3.8GHz || Gigabyte Z97X-SLI || 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws X 1600MHz || Asus GTX 760 2GB @ 1150 / 6400 || 128GB A-Data SX900 + 1TB Toshiba 7200RPM || Corsair RM650 || Fractal 3500W

Maybe and yeah, I am using asus dc2. I didnt screenshot my GPU temps, but my gaming temps on GPU is about 45 degree Celsius. I am trying to figure a way to control my fan speed.
