socket 989 rpga laptop socket

i have an i3 380m its socket is 989 rpga it say the chipset is intel havendale/clarkedale host bridge rev 02 and the sothbridge says intel hm55 rev 05 any help would be great wanna upgrade my cpu and get an ssd

you could upgrade, but no guarantee it will work. The BIOS has to recognize the CPU, and the odds of it recognizing a different one are slim, unless you know they used the exact same bios in the exact same laptop but had a higher end model with better specs, in which case just go for the highest end laptop CPU they offered and it (Should**) work

 

Cooling  could also be an issue, it may be designed to cool an i3, not a higher end i7. So you may end up throttling which will negate the effects of the upgrade in the first place. Also keep in mind more power = less battery life.

 

That i3 is still decent, you could put an SSD in there and still have an awesome on-the-go get-stuff-done laptop.

im not 2 sure its the packard bell tk 85 would bios really make all that difference even if it required the same
