TV Wall Controller vs PC Controller

I want to build a TV Wall Controller but use my computer as the base of operations. I was thinking of getting a Firepro GPU to drive the outputs  but I was curious if anyone has tried using a HDMI input to have real time display for things like gaming? I know I could just spend the 1,500$ on a controller but I was curious if I could just use a PC.
