I am kind of a newbie at pc building and picking out the right parts.

is this a good, balanced, build? is the PSU a little overkill? do I need a better motherboard?

all advice would be greatly appreciated!

PSU is a bit overkill yes. I'm pretty sure 600W would do the job as well.

 

Also concerning the GPU: AMD is probably going to release their new line of graphics cards very soon, so it might be worth waiting for those to come.

most likly will everything below 390x be rebrands. but yeah i would wait since prices would drop

okay. ill look into a 650W-750W PSU.

I don't have a whole lot of money at the moment anyways so ill wait and see if there is a better GPU that comes out in the near future

with a 4790k you should get a better cooler (atleast a 212 evo)and dont get a sshd, they suck in price per performance. get a 850 evo (120 or 240gb) and a wd black 2tb.

for your own sake please dont use different colors as that looks awful (you have green case and yellow gpu)

if money is an issue, get the 4690k with a 212 evo and a cheaper mobo (sabretooth is overpriced) get one from asus's normal z97's

That's a pretty good build I would change out the i7 4790k for an i5 4690k and save yourself 100 bucks if you are not going to be video editing
