CPU Conundrum

Ok so I was 100% set on getting an FX-6300 for my build. There were no questions asked, that is until today when I get an e-mail from TigerDirect with an offer on an FX-8310 for 20 dollars more because of shipping etc.

 

I did some research because I'd never even heard of the 8310 before today.

 

It is an 8 core at 3.4Ghz with a good bit of OC headroom. It is an OEM processor and I've never had any experience with them before.

 

Just am unsure if I should just stick to my plan or invest $20 to get what seems like a better CPU. Maybe I am missing something reading through the specs. Any insights are greatly appreciated.

Please don't buy either FX.  Save some more and get and i3/i5.

I think you could get a better overclock (and thus performance) with the 6300, but you might luck out with the 8310.

 

imo you could get an 8320 for that price and not have to worry about it being a potato chip.

Interesting. I can't find a comparable price for an 8320 but I will definitely keep that in mind.

 

Also I have noticed that the Intel fans always seem to show up whenever I ask about AMD stuff even though the processor I am asking about costs almost $200 less and outstrips performance of the i5 3570 and could easily surpass the i7 3770 because it is unlocked. But what do I know? I'm just a lowly AMD user.
