Storage drive really noisy?

Hi.

I recently upgraded to an SSD for faster boot times and in the hopes that my seagate barracuda 2tb hard drive would make less noise if it weren't an OS drive.

I've been having issues for a few months now where my barracuda is always making a noise as if its reading/writing. The noise doesn't sound unhealthy, just loud. I have no idea why it's making this noise as its just a storage drive which is rarely being accessed.

What could this noise be? Is there any way to make my storage drive idle when not in use?

Its called head noise and no, I don't believe there's any way to stop the noise other than unplugging the drive

if you go into control panel > power options > advansed power options, then you can change how long of inactivity before the drive stops

I know what it's called and I wouldn't post if the noise was on a normal level. I've compared it to my friends exact same drive whose case isn't even a "quiet case", and mine is MUCH louder. There's some option or something thats causing it to read/write constantly. No need for the satirical comment.

yes it does, i set my wd black to stop spinning after 1 minute

Okay cheers. I set it to spin down, and it does but randomly spins up again even when I'm doing nothing at my PC thats accessing the hard drive (e.g. browsing - browser, java etc everything is on my SSD).

maybe it's some background process that uses files from the hdd?

Been using resource monitor to check out - absolutely nothing accessing D (storage) drive.
