Upgrade or Install

Go to solution Solved by Bouzoo,

Well if you have the option to do a clean reinstall I would always suggest that. I've no idea what junk you'll have, but I always suggest clean if you don't want to lose any performance. Just to be safe.

Well Windows 10 upgrade is coming for my Windows 7

I have one question

Should I upgrade my Windows 7 to Windows 10 or should I install Windows 10 directly on clean Hard Drive/SSD (Formatted). I know windows 7->8 upgrade leaves a lot of junk files, is it same case with Windows 10?

I really don't want to lose any PC performance

Hey there,

Well i recommend doing a fresh clean install as over time unwanted files and data can become cluttered on your Hard Drive. I would recommend copying all the files you want to keep to a safe external hard drive or to your alternative drive and unplugging that. Then Use the DBAN tool and wipe your C Drive. This should remove any and all data so make sure you back it up. Then get the windows 10 disk or ISO and install it to the wiped hard drive. Plug your backup hard drive in and sort through your old data, if you want. Then install all your Favorited programs using Ninette. Hope this helped

I am also always looking for a clean reinstall but reason why I am having doubt is due to free Windows 10

Do I still get free Windows 10 version if I do clean reinstall or I can get it only if I upgrade

Pozdrav

In that case, the best thing to do would be to use the free update and then clean install. Source
