Hi guys,

I have a problem... In the C drive, win 8.1, i cant change the permissions of some folders like Common Files (inside programs x86), by going in properties -> security -> edit

Another solution?

Thank you,

EMENCII

Quick question: Why exactly do you want to do this? seems a strange thing to do :P

Well, need full control over that folder... And it's demoralizing the fact that i cant have my pc do what i want T_T

Hi EMENCII! You need to take ownership of the folder before modifying the permissons.

Here are steps:

  1. Right-click on the file or folder and select Properties from the context menu.
  2. On the Properties dialog, go to Security tab and then click on Advanced button.
  3. In the Advanced Security Settings dialog, click on Owner tab, which will indicate the current owner as TrustedInstaller or some other user account.
  4. Click on the Edit button and select user from given Change Owner to list.

You can also use the freeware TakeOwnershipPro that makes it easier.
