Should i wait black friday/cyber monday to build a lower price of now $1500 gaming desktop and just get a $1000 laptop for now, or should i build the rig now and wait the deals for laptop instead?

I need something right now that i can use for school and gaming, but i am willing to wait for the deals for the other one, which one should it be? Which one would i get the most deal (bang-for-buck) if i waited?

What are you going to use the laptop for?

I am going to use it for everyday school stuff, so i would bring it to school/work everyday and some web browsing stuff. Also for gaming. I am thinking of getting the Asus ROG GL551-JW DS74 since, it's the cheapest one i found that is actually pretty good for gaming and is only $1199 right now at Amazon.com ($100 off)

Why would you need a gaming PC and gaming laptop, honestly it makes more sense 90% of the time to have a better gaming PC and a ok standard laptop, I don't even use a laptop I have a small 200$ 8.5 inch tablet with a folding keyboard case and small Bluetooth mouse that runs windows 8.1 that does all my school work perfectly fine without ever needing charging over a full day, when I want to game I go and use my desktop because it's more powerful.

It's better to have a single machine that does a job really well, then two different machines that do the job okay but can only be used by themselves.

It's because i can only get one at this moment, since the desktop i have right now is a monitor all-in-one that can only play league of legends at the lowest settings at 30 fps if i'm lucky. so i need something for gaming right now and then upgrade to a much better one (maybe dekstop, if i'm getting the laptop) on black frida/cyber monday.

If you "have" to game right now, then just build the PC. Get the laptop on a deal.

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600X            | Cooler: Deepcool AK400  | Motherboard: B550 Elite AX V2  | Storage: Samsung 980 Pro 1TB  |

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB   | GPU: MSI RTX 3060 Ti    | Case: NZXT H440 (Red/Black)    | PSU: EVGA 650W G2             |

Build a desktop now and buy a normal 500$ laptop when black Friday rolls around.

Got it. Thanks.

Having a gaming laptop to me makes no sense unless you never stay in one spot. They are more expensive for the performance you get. Also having the ability to game anywhere can quickly kill your social life, when I have free time at school I chat with my friends, when I'm on vacation I go see the sights, when I'm at work I focus on work and talk with my coworkers. People who think they need to be able game everywhere need to see a therapist. To most people I come off as very normal because I only game during my free time at home. The best thing in life is balance.

Rofl, to each their own. Plus i will mainly use the laptop for the Lan Parties. You cant rwally socialize when you have 18 units and stay at school at least 8 hours/4 days a week. What's the point of a vacation if you just gonna play? Yeah so add the part-time work and full time student thing, the concept of free time is almost nonexistent. Even this summer i'm taking classes and on a full time job. Balance is indeed the key, but i would rather get my degree within 3 years then get set on life. xD

Just make a small form factor PC if you want it for LANs.

Sorry for going off on a tangent, sometimes I start giving life advice instead of tech advice.

Yes, i am building either a mITX or a micro ATX with a handle case.

Lmao no worries, we all need to get it off once in a while hahahaha

Go micro atx it's a little bigger but you get limited easily by mITX.

Noted, i can't find a great open air case with handle tho. So far i am leaning towards corsair 240 air. Which has a great size, just that it has no handle. I can mod it and put handle but i would rather get something of the same quality and openess with a handle already built in

The 350D or ARC mini R2 are nice personally I like carrying mid-towers more then handled Cases because you can use both arms and keep the weight against your chest instead of having all the weight be strained on one shoulder.

You got a point there, ill look it up. I just like the convenience of handled case so that you only need one hand for it. Plus you will only carry it for a like 15 feet from the car to the place, or from the house to the car, etc.. So the strain wont really be there unless you walk around with it. The hassle of using to hands to carry the case can be annoying, specially when trying to open loocked doors, car or house

Yea I have taken public transportation to go to a Lan sometimes, so I kind of need to be able to carry it for long distance without my arms wanting to fall off.

If you want a gaming laptop then get one, ignore the people that are like "omg just build a small desktop" its not the same

Most modern gaming laptops especially with a 960m, 970m/980m do a stellar job at 1080p gaming and can be found for a reasonable price

Just my opinion

Desktop - Corsair 300r i7 4770k H100i MSI 780ti 16GB Vengeance Pro 2400mhz Crucial MX100 512gb Samsung Evo 250gb 2 TB WD Green, AOC Q2770PQU 1440p 27" monitor Laptop Clevo W110er - 11.6" 768p, i5 3230m, 650m GT 2gb, OCZ vertex 4 256gb,  4gb ram, Server: Fractal Define Mini, MSI Z78-G43, Intel G3220, 8GB Corsair Vengeance, 4x 3tb WD Reds in Raid 10, Phone Oppo Reno 10x 256gb , Camera Sony A7iii

All I am saying is :D make your own decision, because its your needs and wants that you need to fulfil, its like if I wanted a red car and everyone on the forum was like "red? thats lame get blue" then I would only be disappointed at the outcome

That said, you are more likely to get sales on laptops than on desktops since you will mostly likely be buying individual components which generally do not have as big savings as a complete items

Sometimes GPUs and SSDs can drop quite a bit, but its not always guaranteed, its really hard to say wait

I get your point, thanks. I am just here to review my options and expand my choices. The final decision is still up to me. Yeah, i am mainly looking for GPU,CPU, and SSD deals if ever. Well, ill still look all of them up. I have all summer to decide XP
