Which SSD for me?

Go to solution Solved by Peter Vaughan Truslow,

I'd also recommend the 850 evo. I don't have any 850, but I have 4 of the 840 evo in my house and they're all wonderful, including the 250gb model in my laptop. good luck!

Hello guys, I plan on buying a new SSD for my system, currently have a Kingston v300 120GB, but I'm looking to get a 240GB+ SSD and I'm trying to narrow down my options on which type to get.

My budget is $80-150, maybe more if I feel it's worth adding more to.

To start here is my build...

My motherboard seems to support M.2 SSDs, but I'm not sure which Form, I'm guessing 2280. (There are 3 options in PCPartpicker.)

When I search with PCPartpicker I get a short list of "Compatible" 2280 Form options. As seen below.

http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/internal-hard-drive/#S=230000,8000000&t=0&f=122080

But when I search with the Compatibility Filter Off I get new 2280 Form SSDs.

Why are the same Form M.2 SSDs not compatible? What's going on here?

This is making it hard for me to narrow which ones to look at and get.

I am willing to get a 2.5" Form standard SSD as well, just trying to find the best speed for $$$. I've heard the M.2 can be much faster than the 2.5" so I was looking into those when I came across the above problem.

My original thought was to get...

7800X3D - MSI B650 MAG Tomahawk - 32GB 6000mhz CL30 - Gigabyte 3080 TI - 2TB NVME - 1000w PSU - ID Cooling 240mm AIO

Ok, seems nice.

Answer my other questions? Give a reason why these are recommended maybe? What do they offer that others don't?

I see a few that I would take in consideration over the Samsung.

Compared to the suggested Samsung below

And for my listed budget I could get more Capacity on those Mushkins.

Thanks

Edit:

Looked up some Benchmarks on the differences between the SSDs.

Evo pretty much only one getting close to it's listed performance. (with synthetic benchmarks)

Pny didn't do too bad, I'll probably either get the PNY or the Samsung Evo. Whichever is cheaper.

Thanks. (Even though my 2280 question was never answered.)
