i woad get rid of the cooler and get cheaper mobo and get i3 but its really good

A surface pro 2 will run GTA 5. I know from experience that GTA 5 uses a decent amount of my 3770k. Also with ram I would probably go with 2x 4GB sticks. That way they run in dual channel.

My build based on an i3 4160, ASRock Z97M Pro 4 board and XFZ R7870 gives me 70fps on average with medium settings at 1080p.

 

My old board (Gigabyte H81M-S2H) held back in some way causing me to lose about 30fps - no idea what caused it, but testing the card in another machine with the same CPU and RAM proved my board was doing something obscure. Software was not the issue either. Bizarre.

 

I get the same performance from GTA V on my current build as I do with my work PC which is an i5 3550 based machine with the same GPU installed.

3Gb is enough but gta very cpu intensive game so maby save up for an i5 like the 4460

i3 4160 is absolutely fine for GTA V, and this is from an owner of said chip, player of said game.

It will play, but id suggest a better CPU, many G3258 users complain about issues like stuttering and freezing in GTA V.

I would personally drop the i3 and go for the Pentium g3258, and then get the ASRock z97 anniversary. Its a cheap z97 mobo that will overclock the pentium to 3.8, 4.0 or 4.2 GHz with a push of a button. I even think that the 4.2 overclock will work on stock cooler. 

 

Even though it doesnt have hyperthreading then itll still benefit from the much higher clock rates in games. i even think that its cheaper.

this is 30$ more but it gives you a better cpu. You can either go with this i3 or stay pentium and upgrade to an i5/i7 later. This also brings up your gpu performance a lot going from a 270 to a 280 will help a lot in gta especially that 3gb frame buffer. On gta I'm usually running 3.2 gb almost maxed so that 3gb will help a lot for now and future games. The psu I changed but it's only 1$ cheaper so you can stick with the cx 600 if you want I personally own the 600b and have no problems with it and it is very quite. Hope you have fun building your pc and playing some gta on it !

Edit: also added a dual channel kit of ram witch will be faster then a single stick. Also this was only a couple dollars more then what you had chosen
