Hi all,

I am currently wanting to upgrade my graphics card (because i don't really think a HD 5450 will do the trick). I have found the 5 year old GeForce GTX 480 is only around $100-$200 on Ebay, and frankly it kicks the price equivalent cards of today butts...hard. I know there are other old, yet high end graphics cards out there on the dark and mysterious inter-web and would like some help finding them, so any names of cards would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Ajaz (Ajax)

You can get a 760 used for less than $200, or a 960 for $200 new, they both beat the 480.

I got a 280x for 160. Do some digging maybe check stuff like craiglist, at least with that you can have the guy show to you that it actually works.

For 140$ you can have a brand new 750ti witch is a small step behind a 480 but a 5 year old used GPU is probably on its last legs and going to kick the bucket soon.

I find the GTX 590 and the 580 for not much, and they are a lot more abundant as well, and more powerful

Go onto your local classified ads and look for HD 7950's or 7990's they are the best used GPU's in the 100-150$ price range.

Buying older high end GPUs is often a way to get a really nice GPU for cheap, but I wouldn't go older than GTX 680. For $150 you could get a brand new XFX R9 280 for $150 after rebate with a lifetime warranty and a copy of Dirt Rally. The R9 280 completely destroys the GTX 480.

Hell, the R9 280 even edges out the GTX 670.
