hey guys,

so I am stuck for now with an 8400 gs to game on... and so to get some more performance out of it I have overclocked it hard. its base clock was 469mhz and is now 704mhz and the ram clock was 400mhz and is now 510mhz... Do you guys think it is safe, and I would also like some suggestions as to how to get more out of it without it being unstable

My rig: r7 1700 @ 3.9/1.35v, 16gb ddr4 3200, assorted rando SSDs, hx 1050, vega 64 1650/1025

If it's stable and temps are fine, then I guess it's safe. Did you need to overvolt at all? If you did, that puts a toll on the card's lifespan.

the teemps hit 78 c and it is stable ish but I did not overvolt it as I do not know how. I dont really care about the lifespan as hopefully I will be getting a new pc in 3 months

I imagine you'll be fine then.

What application did you use to overclock? The ones I'm familiar with are MSI Afterburner and EVGA Precision.

Did you try enabling the feature in the settings called "unlock voltage" in the msi afterburner settings at the bottom of the page?

yes I did
