I currently have a GTX 760 2gb, Fx 4350, 500w psu and 8gbs of ram. I have £300 from my birthday and was wondering what i should buy to be able to run games such as arma or newer released games on higher settings than I can now. Please leave suggestions on what i should buy in order to get the maximum performance possible.

If you really want to upgrade, you can always upgrade your CPU or your graphics card. You can spend all of your money on a new gpu like the GTX 970, but your processor can bottleneck your performance.

• OS: Windows 10/10 Pro  • SSD: Samsung 256GB 850 Evo Series *  • HDD: Seagate 1TB  • GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1070 GAMING X (SLI)
• CPU: i7-4790K OC 4.7GHz Quad-Core Processor • Case: NZXT H440 (Black/Red) • PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W
• RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory • Mobo: MSI Gaming 5

Ok I don't think my psu would have enough power for 970 and the bottleneck would be quite bad any other suggestions?

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/TMkDkL The 760 should be good for 1080p mid range gaming. So upgrade that to a 970 later down the road.

Cooler master

Cooler master can be good and dodgy.. really depends on the model. But any half decent 400W (or even less) can handle a 970.

Consider selling your whole rig for about £300 + and I'll spec you a new one that will knock it's socks off for £600+.

Here is one I threw together the other day... Add another £60~ for a HDD..

Can go cheaper for a 960 if budget is tight..

Ideally there would be a HDD and a slightly more powerful PSU if you ever want to go SLI.. As said, things can be changed buit this is your best option *IF* you can get another £350 by selling your current rig

You'd need to look up specific benches for an i3 and 970 But it'll kill your current rig with a new gpu or cpu or mid range both upgraded.

As for cooling, the case is great and all the components are very efficient so cooling isn't a problem.

A build like this I would say will last about 3 years before you'll need a refresh (Depending on you own usage and needs) but then it's a drop in upgrade for GPU and CPU and ram if needed.. you'll also be able to use i5/i7 unlocked processors which stomp all over anything but the highest clocked, water-cooled AMD (without overclocking them)

For reference.. (note that this is a slower and older i3.. you'll get better than this) That said.. it looks like Arma doesn't really favour 1 camp over the other but many other games would benefit.. Take this as you will and decide for yourself.

A 500W PSU is enough for one 970. I recommend getting a 8370 with your mobo instead of the 970 right now, because I suspect the 4300 may be holding back the 760

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.

Not sure how to check what part works with what? Check out my compatibility guide!
