How can a reservoar resoult in better cooling?

i thought the reservoar was just there for easy refilling, and to trap air bubbles.

i get that "more water = better cooling" but really, it will only slow down the heating, not actually keep it cooler over time.

am i wrong?

A reservoir, is not affecting the cooling since its only easier to refill. More water more cooling is kinda right, since more water needs longer to heat up in theory, but its negligible in real world use

today's reservoir use is only to provide thermal expansion of the coolant and

collect air from the system. there are no "cooling" properties related to a

reservoir.

that majority you are speaking of don't know what they are talking about.

in olden times a couple of manufacturers made the reservoir out of aluminum

to promote more cooling efficiency, but pretty much was a non-issue as the extra

fan noise or unsightly place/size it was was obtrusive when externally used.

The reservoir allows you to have a higher volume of coolant in the system. Larger reservoirs allow for higher volumes. This won't significantly affect cooling, though, in the same way the coolant reservoir in your vehicle affects its coolant system's capability of keeping your engine at a reasonable temperature.
