980Ti or 970?

Go to solution Solved by Dabasepc,

a single 980ti is good for 1440p 60z games max settings. FPS is between 50 and 90

The title pretty much says it all. Should I go for the lower end (lower end being relative) 970, or save a few extra bucks for the 980Ti, once everything is validated on that card? I plan to use the ACER Predator xb270 HU 2560x1440 144hz monitor, and want my games like skyrim to look as beautiful as possible. Can I get away with the 970? or is the 980ti the safest bet? Thanks in advance

you probably need 2x 980ti for 144hz on 1440p

Indeed, I was using DSR at 1440p on several games and it was around 60-90 FPS with my 980. Of course turning down a few settings can easily get you the rest of the way.

980 ti, benchmark show (from both Linus and PCper) that it's barely under titan X, it should be able to do 1440 with 60+ FPS, I don't know if you'll get the full 144 FPS on newer games tho (i'm going off 4k benchmark tho). on skyrim it should be able to hit 144 FPS easily.

I believe with 980ti SLI its perfect for 1440p 144hz games max setting

I agree, for the long run get the 980 ti, and SLI upgrade later on of more future proofing. should be good for 5-7 years (I hope) untill Direct X 13 or something makes it useless (like my old GTX 9800).

5-7 years? more like 2-3.

2018 = GTX 980ti = outdated GPU

look up the 700 series. took less thn 2 years to be outdaded. kepley is old gen.
