H97 mobo

Go to solution Solved by flibberdipper,

go for a psu from a well known brand so it dosent kill your PC as for mobos i have no idea

That PSU is fine...

Basically I want to build a new PC after long 7 years :D

Motherboard: H97 Gigabyte GA-H97-HD3
CPU: Intel i5-4690
Graphics card: GeForce GTX960 MSI 2GB GDDR5 / Sapphire R9 280X Vapor-X Tri-X (haven't decided on that yet)
HDD: HDD SATA3 7200 1TB Toshiba
RAM: DDR3 4GB 1600MHz Kingston HyperX Savage CL9 x2
PSU: 500W SilverStone SST-ST50F

So the reason why I put this here is that someone actually told me to not go for anything below H97. Since in my country this H97 is almost the double price of ASUS B85M-G I was wondering what would I actually lose if I went with Asus mobo. Also when I used cooler master calculator it displayed 443W so after reading a review on hardware secrets and also johhny guru or something like that I found this cheap, but still good PSU and was wondering is it ok for this build? Advices are welcomed, but keep in mind this build in my country is around US$1050 so I don't have a lot of room for upgrades.

PSU is fine, and going back a generation on the board might present some issues, since you might have to update the BIOS in order to use that CPU, which may be a problem if you don't have a Haswell CPU laying around.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

"Here is some advice that might have gotten lost somewhere along the way in your life.

#1. Treat others as you would like to be treated.

#2. It's best to keep your mouth shut; and appear to be stupid, rather than open it and remove all doubt.

#3. There is nothing "wrong" with being wrong. Learning from a mistake can be more valuable than not making one in the first place.
