Hey, I need help for upgrades on my way out of date "gaming" computer.

My current specs are:

OS: Win 8 pro

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40hz, (4 CPUS) Stock cooler.

RAM: 4GB of some older Corsair stuff, clocked at like 400mhz. No Idea why I bought it.

Video card: ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series, It's a 1gb card but it says 2808MB For some odd reason.

Audio device: AMD Sound card..

Mobo: Asus P5KC

Case: Cooler Master Cosmos 1000

PSU: Antec 1k watt

OS Drive: Not sure, 140gb, def not an ssd.

3 other mech drives at a total of 4tb.

I know this might sound odd, But I can run Battlefield 3 on High. Farcry 3, Bioshock Infinite, And others on high.. But I'm wanting to play Battlefield 4 on this machine, I want to know whats best to upgrade now, I don't have enough money for a whole new PC. I'd say My budget is around $450 usd. I just need ideas or help on upgrading this.

Post if I'm missing anything by the way, also I was going to get a Radeon 7870 and Corsair Vengeance 8gb @ 1600hmz for 300.

Are you making fun of the case, Or in love with it? Lol

Dat psu ._. So overkill (reminds me of my first psu)

My friend has the same case. (Mini fridge) It's awesome.

My recommendation: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1j9Hy

Games will become more threaded. 8 cores should help for upcoming games.

The cooler is optional but it helps for a bit of overclocking. Excellent value cooler, I might add.

Oh, and if you are an ssd virgin...Prepare yourself.

This will make sure you are ready to upgrade your gpu in the future.

I have a Razer Arctosa Black edition, Razer Abyssus, Logitech Sound system(TONS of bass.) And a Acer S230HLAbii Black 23" 5ms HDMI Widescreen LED Monitor

Nice. Now I'm curious what sound system you have.

Haha, It's a logitech z506.

So with that build I won't need a better gfx card?

You say you're already doing fine with your current one so it should do for now. Not everyone needs to play at maxed settings.

If you think you need more graphics power now, this would be the better option: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1j9ZX

Well, I've just been getting into the arma series and really want to play at like, 50 or higher frames, instead of the 20 i'm getting.. Which build would be better?

The build with the new gpu would definitely pull more frames. The 8320 build would allow for a better upgrade path with capability to sli/crossfire two powerful gpus..

But, I've also been reading that arma is more cpu heavy than gpu, i can always update the gfx later

It's up to you. I was thinking more cores for future upcoming games which will be more threaded than arma but to each his own.

I've made some slight changes to the 8-core build, Is this a good combo? http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Xnfinity/saved/22n7

You took out the graphics card so no. You need a gpu to game.

Right.

Nope. Just go with my first recommendation: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1j9Hy

You took out the ssd which is the single most dramatic upgrade you can make for a small performance gain on the cpu side.

Well then go right ahead. It will give you performance gain only for the cpu.

Alright, thanks for your help. Would eBay be my best choice to sell my older components?

Whichever is most convenient for you. It's good and helps if you've used eBay before.
