So i've decided to overhaul the components of my computer, after some research and some basis for what i decided on.. the following list is a general idea of what i'm currently looking at (subject to change)

- CPU : i7-4790k (not an overclocker, but if the chance comes in the future, this could be a possibility)
- Cooling : CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO (would water cooling be better?)

- Motherboard : Asus Maximus VII Hero
- GPU : GTX 970 x2 SLI (was thinking single 980.. but is this a better solution for future proofing?)
- Case : NZXT 820 Phantom
- PSU : EVGA SuperNova NEX 750w 80+ ATX Power Supply

- Sound Card : Creative Sound Blaster Z

- Monitors : Currently have 3 24" 144hz 1080p monitors

As noted above this can be subject to change, i'm trying to find the best performance to cost ratio that would allow me to future proof my set-up as well as give me some oompf at the same time, feel free to suggest anything different and your reasons why as this list can be subject to change based on given facts.

Thanks for your help.

I'd get a slightly lower end board and drop in a 980ti (unless you NEED sli for developing games or such) as the 6GB is very useful and an SSD.

Snip

Budget and where your from (or will be buying) is very useful also.

And follow your own topics, it will give you notifications for all responses.

I would probably get this monitor for gaming: http://bit.ly/1Iin7LH(If you're playing competitively. If you're not, I would probably stick with the monitors you have right now)

For developing, I would get an LG 21:9 UltraWide monitor.

Also, for the graphics card, I would get a GTX 980 Ti. It is better than 2x 970s and it is around the same price as buying two 970s anyway.

@Dzzope Well i'm from australia so i'm having a look at what is available in the computer stores around my area. my budget is probably around 2k, i've already got a few things like an SSD and monitors etc with the 980Ti would that allow multiple monitors to be used on the single card? (might sound like a silly question if it has more than enough plug-ins for monitors xD)

@evilarceus The monitors i've got at the moment are pretty adequate for what i need them for.. once i'm done with study i might splosh more on high-end monitors :) let's see if the Ti is anywhere near me xD

@Dzzope So why did you suggest the 980 Ti compared to the 970 SLI What is the differences between these two setups that made you suggest the Ti instead. Simply that it's a single card that can support up to 4 monitors? or are there more reasons for this.

6GB of Vram for development in graphical situations is useful vs the 4 you get with SLI (though if you run the cards for development I think it may(depending on the package) to use them indepentantly)

SLI the cards are treated as one.. yes it increases performance but not the memory pool.. 2 x 4GB cards in SLI is 4GB Vram available not 8.

You may want to look into it further yourself for your use-cases.

Well after spending a few more hours looking stuff up, benchmarks, reviews, specs it is definitely looking very appetising, i'll have to see when it becomes available in the stores i usually go to and hopefully i can snatch one up, iv seen that a 600w is the least required for the card, so i'm guessing with the 750PSU i have my eyes on that should be more than enough for the card (when i get it) and for the rest of the set up?
