Earphones or Headphones?

Depends what you're doing.

For sports, in ears can be better, but for sound quality, headphones are generally better. They allow for larger drivers, better components and better noise isolation.

How better are Headphones and are they worth the extra weight on the head?

Would depend on the headphones. A pair of £100 IEMs are going to beat a pair of £20 headphones.

And again, it depends on what you're doing. If you're just going to be using them while sitting down, or just not moving around a lot, I would say they're worth it. But not so much for running and other sports.

I never find myself using my ath-m50's anymore because if I'm at my desk I use my speakers, and if I'm out, or if I'm at the gym I'll just use my inears, because they are more comfortable to wear while moving imo and isolate noise better then my headphones.

My in ears are the stock apple ones btw, I don't know why but I just like them, the sound quality obviously isn't amazing, but they just fit so well and are comfortable and are not heavy. (Plus they were free!) When I'm out I don't care as much about sound quality like I do when I'm inside.
