i just wondered if it would make more sense to just buy a gtx 780 or if i should get an 3770k with a cheaper graphics card i currently have an i5 2500k and a gtx 570

Is there any need for you to upgrade your CPU? If not, get the GTX 780.

From the information you have given us your 2500K is fine, go with a GPU upgrade.

Cpu is fine. If you need more performance just OC that bad boy. Up your gpu if you feel your games chugging

Unless your using applications that will benefit from the extra threads, stick with your i5 sir! If you want more juice overclock it, but go for the 780!

for most applications a 2500K is plenty,so I'd go with the GTX 780.
