Hey guys,

So I have a strange issue, I think its a defective cable issue but just wanted to double check that I wasn't being an idiot.

My setup is:

3 x Asus VG248QE - 2 hooked up to DP and one hooked up to DVI

GTX 980 (Gigabyte G1)

So the issue is when I start up one of my monitors doesn't get a picture but when I pull the display port cable out of the monitor and plug it in again it gets a picture. I tried the cable on the other 2 monitors and its the same issue. I previously had it set up with one on DVI, 1 on HDMI and one on DP so I was thinking maybe I have it in the wrong config.

So do you think its just a defective cable being weird or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

What cable is causing the issue? Is it the DVI one?

Might be that your monitor is trying a different connection when it boots, but auto-switches once it detects the cable being plugged in. Try using the monitor's in-picture menu to hard-set the input source to the correct connection.

Seeing that your cable transmits a clear picture when you do get it working, it's pretty much impossible to be a cable issue ;)

It's the display port cable causing the issue. Each monitor only has 1 cable plugged in. I've swapped cables wrong from monitor to monitor and whichever monitor that cable is plugged into just has the same issue

Mmmmmmm, that really is a freaking weird issue. Have you tried checking if the input source on the monitors is set static? Please try that and report back. That's the only thing I can think of that could cause this.

EDIT

Oh wait: whilst switching monitors, was the faulty cable plugged into the same output on the video card? Could you try switching that as well?
