Will have a total of 300 usd after my birthday. I have EVERYTHING besides a CPU and a case. Will be used for solely gaming.

---CPU---

- Preferably an i5

- MUST be lga1150

- DOESN'T need to be unlocked, I have a MSI b85m e45 mobo and it doesn't OC well enough to want to do so

---CASE---

- Must be at or under 300 usd along with CPU

- Preferably silent for sound/dust purposes

- Mid tower, full tower isn't necessary

- Any brand so long as it's not super off-brand

- A 240/280mm rad option for GPU water cooling later on

- LED isn't really needed

- Expansion slot optional, either I have them or I don't, not a big deal either way

- At least some airflow, so long as it's as good as your average silent case I'm fine

- The color I prefer is black but white is alright too

CPU: INTEL Core i7 4790k @ 4.7Ghz - Cooling: NZXT Kraken X61 - Mobo: Gigabyte Z97X SLI - RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ares 2400mhz - GPU: AMD Sapphire Nitro R9 Fury 4G - Case: Phanteks P350X - PSU: EVGA 750GQ - Storage: WD Black 1TB - Fans: 2x Noctua NF-P14s (Push) / 2x Corsair AF140 (Pull) / 3x Corsair AF120 (Exhaust) - Keyboard: Corsair K70 Cherry MX Red - Mouse: Razer Deathadder Chroma

Bit of an AMD fan I suppose. I don't bias my replies to anything however, I just prefer AMD and their products. Buy whatever the H*CK you want.

Just get the cheapest i5 you can. If you have a micro enter close by get the 4590. If you're looking for noise reduction you best option will probably be to get just any case under $50 and spend that other 50-100 on noctua or other pwm fans and dust filters. Dust filters aren't really necessary though imo because your house probably isn't THAT dusty and you'll have to spend time cleaning the dust filters just like you would have to clean dust from your computer. I think dust filters might make the fans a little louder too but I'm not sure

G3258 @ 4.5 | 8GB Team Vulcan RAM | 128GB Kingston V300 SSD (I didn't know what I was doing when I bought it) | MSI H81I Motherboard | Corsair H55 with Noctua NF-P12 | EVGA SSC GTX 960 4GB | OCZ 550W Fully Modular PSU with Noctua NF-A14 | Cooler Master Elite 130 (Soon to be something cool)

Live in TN. Not a Microcenter for hundreds of miles. I was looking at maybe a 4590 and a 100r silent. The combo leaves me a tad bit of room for maybe another couple fans. Thoughts on that?

It's a little bit over $300 but the case can support a 280mm rad. You can also get a 4460 instead if you want to save abit of cash.

Xeon is a good price though its excessive for my needs. The s340 isn't particularly silent either.
