CS:GO fps cap

When i try to put the fps cap to 145 so that my 144hz monitor will work the fps is something like 141 and when i cap it at 160 its 151 and when i cap it at 999 it gets solid 300+ fps whats wrong?

Be cause i can hear "Coil whining" from my headphones if the fps is high

It's cs:go special thing: fps is lower, than u set via fps_max cmd.

Just put it to 200 and u'll be fine. No need to go 300+ since u won't tell anything higher than 144 fps on your 144hz display.

As I understand it the cl_showfps and graph commands aren't entirely accurate. Something to do with frame timing I believe? In any case if you lock it at 144 it'll lock at 144. 

 

Beside the point though, if you can't tell then why does it matter?

Set fps_max to double your refresh rate +1. I also have a 144hz monitor and it feels much smoother than capping it at 144.

if my fps cap is higer that 170 my gpu starts to "coil whine" in my headphones.

Weird, have you tried plugging the headset in the back of your PC (or in the front if it's already in the back)? My plugs on the back of the PC have coilwhine through my headset but the front plugs don't.
