Hi everyone, I'm new to the forums, but not the LinusTechTips youtube channel. I am looking into a decent gaming pc on a pretty tight budget, just something to start me up. My budget is 300$

The computer I have currently is a bit over half my age. The games I want to be able to run are as follows: Heavily Modded Minecraft, Skyrim, COD WaW, Arma 2, DayZ, Hitman series, Just Cause 2, Sid Meier's Civ 5, War Thunder, Sanctum 2, Orion:Prelude.  I can stand not having the best graphics known to man kind, however I don't want to be rushing to turn down the graphics to the bare minimum.

I've got pretty basic knowledge on computer building, so please don't expect me to know every little thing there is out there for me to learn. There are two very old pc's that I've taken apart, which allowed me to see the innards of a computer. I plan to later on build a new pc with a larger budget of 650$ For now though I need something that won't roar when I attempt to boot up minecraft.

Can anyone help me out with some tips and pointers, possibly part lists I could use? The only peripheral I'd like some direction with is a monitor. I've got the keyboard, headset, mouse, etc. covered.

Thumbs up for AStateOfTrance's build. With a budget of $300, there's only so much you can do.

Hey my computer roars like lion during minecraft but I get 100FPS lol. If you've got $300 now put it away and save up another $350 and go with that $650 one, you'll regret not doing it.

This right here, I know there is a chart somewhere on the internet but it shows the performance to cost ratio and at $300, you would be better off to save as much as possible and get a better computer than the $300 one.

Could you rephrase " save as much as possible and get a better computer then the $300 one" I know what you meant but the wording is confusing in a sense. Like obviously a $500 computer vs a $300 one, the $500 will be better if both were built by someone who knew what they were doing but what your trying to say is you get more for the dollar with a $650 PC then a $300 one.

I don't understand, what's so confusing? I read it over and over and don't find it confusing. I said to save more than $300 because even if you get a $400 computer, it would be more beneficial because of all the extra performance you would get. Its not like a $1900 and $2000 computer and debating whether or not to get another SSD which doesn't give gaming performance.

Thanks for the parts list. The reason why the OS and peripherals don't really matter is because I'll be getting them from a friend of mine. I ask for a 300$ computer because my current computer is really, really awful. I could get to 300$ pretty quick with my current circumstances, but I need the pc now. I can't wait for the extra money for a 650$ computer.
