Removing Thermal Interface Material

Hi,

I just bought an H80i for my first build, but I also bought some PK-1 Thermal Paste...

So my question is this:

Is 90%+ Isopropyl alcohol enough to clean the pre-applied TIM on the H80i, or should I spend $14 on the ArctiClean stuff???

Any suggestions/recommendations would be great!

Use Isopropyl alcohol, it's fine. The ArctiClean is certainly not worth the $14.

Just be sure you use a microfibre cloth aswell.

The Isopropyl alcohol will work just fine.

Nail polish remover that contains acetone also works fine if you don't have Isopropyl alcohol lying around.

also mentholated spirits works too just don't get it on the pcb

As stated above there are many ways to remove the TIM but my question is why the tim on the H80i is good (not as good as other stuff but its still good enough) i just don't see a reason to do it unless your going to but some really crazy stuff like the liquid metal.

Isopropyl will do the work. I personally used 95 % alcohol. Make sure to use a microfiber cloth. I didn't have one laying around, so I took the one that came with one of my sunglasses. :D
