Doing a "retro-esque" build soon!

     The specs are in my signature. I bought the ATI Radeon X1600XT for $17 (eBay), the AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ for $17(eBay), the RAM for $7 (eBay), cooler for $7 (Newegg) and the 350W Dell PSU for $8 (Micro Center). I had the Z11 lying around from my 1st build (which is now in a BitFenix Shinobi.) The motherboard and 256MB of RAM came from a dead computer that my grandmother gave me to tinker with (Compaq SR1616NX) and the 1GB RAM was something that my Dad had lying around. I also put in a SanDisk SSD and a WD Caviar Blue 500GB, which was in a broken laptop. You may think I'm crazy for doing so, as the board only supports SATA 1, but I had it around collecting dust. SanDisk gave me 2 SSDs (64GB Ultra Plus and 120GB Extreme) after I RMA'd a fairly basic 64GB SSD.

 

     The computer is built mainly of spares and used parts. In total, it cost me about $116. The case cost $60, but like I said it was lying around doing nothing. It will be running a dual boot, Windows 7 and Windows XP. The Windows 7 install will be on the SSD, and Windows XP will be on the mechanical drive. I will be using this machine mainly as an experimental machine. I will occasionally play Minecraft on it, and I will use it for HD video on my TV.

The parts arrived early! Expect a new Build Log at 2:00-3:00 AM EST! Due to issues with the sourcing of a functional Windows XP image and the malfunctioning of the CD Drive, the build log is postponed until Friday. Sorry, but it will be awesome!
