I am having troubles with my computer. When I try to run games like battlefield 4, GTA 5 and anything else that runs heavy on the CPU I gets major FPS drops.
I recently did a big overhaul on my computer, updating the processor, GPU and PSU. My new specs are as follows;
CPU: AMD FX-8320E
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 960 (Windforce)
PSU: Corsair CXM750W
Motherboard: MSI 760GM-P21 (FX)
RAM: 1 stick of 8GB at 1333MHz (Team)
Harddrive: 1TB Seagate Barracuda drive.

When my computer is running these heavy games the stats on my CPU say it's running at 255°C while my GPU drops suddenly from 40% usage to 20% give or take
I was wondering if anyone knows why this might be? I was thinking it may be the RAM as it runs lower than the average ram speed now of 1600Hz but obviously it could be something else entirely different.
It only happens on some games however. BioShock Infinite and Assassins Creed III to name a couple do not suffer from this problem.

I have had this problem since I bought my PC, upgrading it hasn't changed anything with this problem so it is very frustrating, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Many GPU Reduces its usage when it reaches a certain Peak point temperature to Avoid Burning and damaging itself.Like an Fail-safe

And when u say 255 Celcuius , MAN , thats too high ,my gpu shuts down in tempp like 100 Celcius

It may be an Cooling issue ,

Have u been overcloked recently

I dont think that it is going upto 255 C, coz it would DIE at that insane Temp (its literally Impossible)

Try using other software for seeing the Temperature

What program you use to see to check the cpu temp ? It's impossible for it to get to 255c. Also for the gpu usage to be that low it's not normal, usually it should be max out when playing intensive game. Try to reapplied the thermal paste for both your gpu and cpu and see if it's help

My gpu never goes over 70°C but still drops in usage.

And it says in coretemp it reaches 255
°C when the fps stutters, my cpu normally runs at about 40-65°C then spikes to that exact number everytime, to slowly go down to normal until the next stutter.

If you follow your own topic you will know when people reply!

Anyway, can you tell us what program you were using? And possibly try a new program such as MSI Afterburner and see if it reports the same?.

The mainboard is not suitable for that processor, VRM module is probably overheating.

What motherboard would you suggest to replace this one? With a reasonable price

Hope you can buy from Newegg.
