GPU Running Hot!

Go to solution Solved by Kyuubixchidori,

thats 100% normal. its designed to run at 95*C under full load

I recently just built my first PC and have noticed that my GPU gets really hot. It idles around 38 C and reaches 80 C after playing Team Fortress 2 for only a few minutes. Watching any YouTube video at 1080p 60fps ramps up the temperature to 50 C. I have adjusted the fan speed in MSI Afterburner so that when it reaches 80 C it runs the GPU fans at 90% and set it so that every degree will match the fan %. I would like to know if these temperatures are natural under these conditions.

My Build:

  • CPU: Intel i5 4690K
  • RAM: Hyper X 8GB
  • MOBO: Sabertooth Z87
  • GPU: XFX R9 290 4GB Double Dissipation
  • Case: Corsair Vengeance C70
  • Power Supply: Corsair CX 600W
  • CPU Fan: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
  • Windows 8.1 64-bit
  • No additional fans inside case, just the three it came with, 2 in front for intake and 1 in back for exhaust
