Question about the Surface Pro 3.

Hey guys! How is everybody doing today?

 

I just wanted to ask is the Surface Pro 3 worth the asking price? I'm going to start graduate school on Monday and need a laptop. 

 

If you guys think the Surface Pro 3 isn't worth it, than what laptop do you guys recommend? 

 

 

The suggestion doesn't need to be a "gaming" laptop (even though some notebooks with a 960m/965m are about the same price as the surface).  This is where I need the advice.

 

Should I invest in the alienware 13 for the same price? I am not going to be doing any core gaming while in school, mostly indie titles. 

 

 

I currently have a Samsung Gamer 7 (soon be be replaced with a gaming rig) and I don't feel like carrying a 17" desktop replacement along with all the other textbooks and binders.  It will just become too heavy.   I'm planning to leave my Samsung Gamer 7 at my parents house (for when I visit them) and just need a replacement to make life easy to carry things things around without hurting my back

It's white for me on the black background.  I put the color on automatic.
