What i learnt today

So i live in a rural area, where we have only just got access to fiber optic, internet. so ive been stuck on copper phone lines giving me 2.5 down/ 0.4 up, anyway so my dad called up our provider, and we are getting fiber optic  on the 7th i think! 40 down apparently!! so ive done some modifications on  my network, we have 2, one that runs the whole house. and one that runs my room! so the layout was, a standed router from provider 3 or so years old, which linked to all the Ethernet stuff downstairs,  and wifi, which is fine for my parents as the are always near the router to get good enough internet. and then power-line adapters, connecting my network to the router down stairs, then my powerline plugged into to another hacked router, to act as a switch and WAP thats about 5 years old. so today i invested in some switches 2X 48 port dell switches! so i replaced my router with a network switch. (one spare which i may keep or sell, i got them at a bargin, was a steal)so put all that in my wardrobe as a makeshift rack and woah my speeds increased!!!! from 2.5 down /0.4 up to about 3.75 down/0.7 up. my new 5GHZ router still in the post from my provider!! which will go downstairs! 

So anyway what i have learnt, people always have a go at the providers! But maybe before you do,  buy some decent network stuff it may make a difference.

Only have it because my parents like the TV. Internet isn't to bad but the router sucks balls.

never had them, but ive herd they are terrible . we got Sky tv too, just buy a 5Ghz router, i hate Wifi on pc's! my mate has a gaming rig but uses a wifi card, out of choice.. ehhh *Sigh*

I am going to have too. Or run Ethernet everywhere. Not to expensive though.
