So I just bought a couple of gtx 970 and I'm having the following problem. So before I installed the cards I uninstalled my old nvidia drivers, then I installed only one of the two cards to make sure it works but for some reason when I turn on my pc my monitor's resolution automatically is switched to 640 by 480 (from 1080p) and then nothing, no Bios, no windows. Tested both cards and I have the same problem. My 770 works fine even without drivers. Could it be that I've not updated my motherboards bios( ASUS VII RANGER)?

So yea I'm stuck and would really appreciate your help.

The gpu's are powered correctly i assume, Try to clear the CMOS (battery on the motherboard or button or jumpers) and than try again. Make sure you go in the bios and select PCI lane to GEN3 NOT AUTO (my friends had problems with 900 geforce series on every motherboard manufacturer) on the other hand im using g1 gaming gtx 970 and i switched from 2xgtx760 and to be honest you dont have to uninstall the drivers since your swapping with geforce card again. Try this method and reply, we can help you dude.

Try using iGPU. If the problem still is there, we know that the OS or something is acting strange. If the problem disappears, we know that it's the GPU or it's drivers acting up.

Make sure the PCIE power connectors are plugged in.

Ignore that ^

Try using the integrated gpu of your processor if it has one.

Just tried, nothing and I have it set to GPU in the bios. The display is obviously getting a signal but maybe it doesn't support 640 by 480?
