win 10 ram limit

Go to solution Solved by Blake,

any idea what will be the win10 x64 ram limit

When we have an official limit you will be able to find it here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa366778(v=vs.85).aspx

So unless you have a server with 1TB of RAM that you don't mind installing windows 10 on and testing for us, assume the same as windows 8.1 for now. The only people who actually know will be under NDA and work for MSFT.

Most likely some amount that the average consumer could only dream of possessing.

If they have windows 10 professional and stuff like that, then it will most likely be different for all those versions.

Why?

I can't name a single piece of consumer hardware with support for over 512GB of ram.

why it will be, coz simply win 10 is built on a new tech and if u know MS well enough each version of win has a higher ram limit

but btw fyi there are mobos with 1.5tb ram limit but im not gonna lie these are for servers but you can get them from newegg

I know those boards exist, hence why I said consumer.(Being purchasable doesn't make them consumer)

Running those boards with a consumer windows license seems a bit silly.

If you are buying over 512GB of ram, you are doing something special like a powerful backend database server using ram disks.
