Firepro or Quadro

Go to solution Solved by Glenwing,

As far as I know, that doesn't require FP64 calculations, so it should be roughly the same speed between a GeForce/Radeon card and an equivalently spec'd Quadro/FirePro. The GeForce/Radeon would obviously be a much less expensive route though, and I don't think there would be much difference.

Hey guys,

I wonder if I want to downsample a video using Xilisoft or a similar kind of software without editing it, will AMD Firepro or nVidia Quadro helps fasten the process ? How is it compare to a regular Radeon or GeForce (not a TITAN)

Do you guys prefer using Firepro or Quadro, have any experience with driver, compatability, etc ?

Thanks

I've looked onto this video and other videos, but they only explain it when rendering using 3D Software or the most relevant software I know for video only is Premiere Pro but it involves editing.

The scenario would be you have hundreds of 12GB box office movie and wanted to compress it to just under 3GB. I know Xilisoft support nVidia or AMD extra power compare to just Intel HD Graphic Card, but would it make different when using Quadro or FirePro ? My assumtion is if a movie takes even 10 minutes less, then it would be a few worthy hours different.

While a Quadro migth be a bit better than it's Gforce counterpart with the same chip, for a given budget you get more rendering power with a Gforce.

For you task you also need a fast storage system.
