Which GPU will i need?

I dropped the money on a 34uc97 and it will arrive on friday.

 

currently have  a amd HD 7770

 

what will i need to run it?

 

i dont want to spend loads of money but dont want to skimp on GPU to run games on it.

 

im thinking a 970? overkill or underkill?

You are going to want a 970 as the minimum to run games at that kind of resolution.

yeah 970 would be a good bet but i would suggest a r9 290x it beats out the 970 at higher resolutions most of the time

like @ADZ_123_!"£ said the 970 is the bear minimum with the 980 being about right. For the price range a r9 290x performs the same as the 970 but a little cheaper. It does run hotter tho

You may wanna go with a 980 for that resolution; a Titan X even if you can spend it.

If your comming from a 7770, thats going to be a nice upgrade.

 

For a monitor like that, there is no point going for low - med settings, your (as said above) looking at a 970 as a minimum (though if your were happy at all with the 7770 you could go lower but then thats a waste of money on the screen)

yeh i think realisticlly a 970 would be where i would go. 980 etc is too expensive because i need a new Motherboard and other stuff. now the decision between r9 290x , 970 or wait for 390 to come out. what kind of fps can i achieve with those cards?

Well, I wouldn't expect a price drop on the 970 and such.. the 390 looks like it'll be $850 ish
