Math Question

Go to solution Solved by ChaseB,

(610-575)/575 * 100%

610 - 575 = 35

35 / 575 = 0.0608

So a 6.08% overclock

You can create a proportion like 575/610=x/100. Cross multiply and divide both sides by 610. Then subtract whatever x is from 100. You now have your percentage difference.

So I was overclocking a GPU and talking to a friend over the phone, he asked me what was the percentage of my overclock. So for example my base clock is 575 and my overclock was at 610.  So can someone please explain step by step how to find the percentage of that Overclock.

after/stock = 610/575 = 1.06 = 106%

So you overclocked to 106% of your initial clock.

That's a 6% increase (106%-100%).

Or if you want to see the stock clock in relation to your post-overclock clock :

575/610 = 0.94=94%

So your stock clock is 94% of your overclocked clock.

(610-575)/575 * 100%

Incorrect sir.

What are you talking about. This is a percentage of overclock right. You start off with your base. You overclock it to 610. Either way you still get the same thing. 610/575 is 106.08%, but you have to subtract 100% from that. You do it another way, my way and you get the same thing.

This is the same way you would use to calculate percent error.

Oh and I was answering while you were editing too LOL. Yeah my initial answer was wrong. I quickly realized that.

Sorry, was commenting while you were apparently editing.

What I saw was : 610/575 * 100 == 9 %

Only noticed after that it was changed to what it is now.

In this type of scenario, there is only one correct answer (given by either me, T.Vengeance, nineshadow, godlygamer, CoolaxGaming or mrswagbhinav)

You pick whatever answer was correct and then mark it as "best answer". Doesn't matter if one is first, second or even last.
