Okay so first I am in the UK, so deals from america do not really apply much to me here.

I am looking at a phone, ideally on W8.1 (I am sick of Androids problems, and iPhones are overpriced which will be obsolete in a few months), I would like a good camera and a good audio chip on the device, while the camera is more for quick snaps while I am out or on holiday (Even though I use DSLR for heavy duty) for the food shot kinda stuff, the phone is my king.

Audio is another big point for me, not using the speaker but via the 3.5mm jack, I use my phone in the car mostly which of course I use everyday for work, I also I like to listen to it at work via my headphones so its a big deal.

I like screens around 5" give or take a few " here and there.

For contract based usage, I use the data for web browsing I don't stream music or videos via it, I make calls that last a couple of mins here and there, I would say I use maybe an hour and half each month.

Texts I use extensively every day but in most contracts they are unlimited (Cap of 21k I believe.)

So I was looking at the Lumia 930, its £22.50 on o2 but I will be able to negotiate a deal with them due to time been with them, but is there a phone that is cheaper with similar camera specs to this? Processor/RAM etc are not a major concern to me, I don't do heavy tasks on my phone.

What would you recommend?

Thanks

What? I've been using my iPhone 4s for 3.5 years now, it's fast and it's being supported in the newest operating systems.

Okay..

I hate been on older OS versions for extended periods of time, also in the UK to get a iPhone its like £25 for basic on o2, and the contract is not great, the phones are fine, I just cant justify iPhone and what seems to be their rapid outphasing and UK price, but do tell me, how long would a 5s last? if I knew the price was going to justify the lifespan (More than 2 years) then fine.

A 5s should be able to last quite long. Its only a last gen phone (Compared to the Iphone 4s, a last last last gen phone). Probably around 2 years +, if you are not planning to play games on it it should run fine doing whatsapp, messaging and calling.

2 years without a doubt, I'm by no means Apple biased but their phones are fine if you get them second hand/on sale.

Apple are actually quite good at keeping devices up to date for extended periods.

like the example given is a 4s which is on latest OS version.

Personally, I just don't like their interface. (or price when new)

Personally I'm kinda in the same boat but I'll be looking once Windows 10 is out and established a bit. My Nexus 5 is still going very strong.

Maybe the Lumia 640 XL or Lumia 1020. They are a bit cheaper, but the 1020 should be almost identical camera wise.
